Vehicle Preparedness

Being Prepared While on the Road

Although every vehicle is different and the capacity to store and carry gear and equipment varies greatly, we will summarize what we feel are some ideal “packages” of important safety and preparedness gear you should carry in your vehicle.  These packages will also vary depending on the type of trip you are taking; Commuting to work vs Holiday in Kamloops .. will be very different.

Let’s break it down into the following categories:

  • Vehicle Safety and Maintenance
  • Personal Safety and Security
  • Medical and First Aid
  • Accident and Emergency Preparedness

Each of these categories will require their own containers or bags and those can potentially be stored in one large container or tub.  It is important that your gear is well organized and easy to use and deploy.  Colour coding them can also be very helpful in the heat of the moment; red for medical, blue for water, black for tools/gear, orange for accident/attention, and green for food are some examples of colouring.
